This Augmented Reality app has been commissioned by New York not-for-profit Art Connects New York to develop Augmented Reality art exhibitions.
The inaugural exhibition for the app titled Invisible in Plain Sight, has been specifically designed for Senior Planet Exploration Center, to launch simultaneously at their two locations in New York City, and Plattsburgh, upstate New York.
Art Connects NY connects artists and curators with social service agencies in New York City to create museum-quality permanent exhibitions of contemporary artwork. For their first ever digital art exhibition they have partnered with Senior Planet to develop the ArtConnectsAR app.
The inaugural exhibition has been curated by internationally renowned media curator, Amanda McDonald Crowley. Crowley invited app developer Jeff Crouse and digital artist Peter Lester to work with 9 older artists (Senior Planet members) to develop new digital artworks, specifically for the Augumented Reality app. This app, built in the Unity game engine using the Vuforia AR platform, is uniquely designed for AR exhibitions to incorporate artwork into a variety of venues. The inaugural exhibition for the app will launch simultaneously in Senior Planet’s New York City venue and Senior Planet North, in Plattsburgh, upstate New York.
